8 Treatments and Services Found at HealthMax Physiotherapy

The term “physiotherapy” is a British term for physical therapy, another broad term used to describe to describe injury rehabilitation, pain management, exercises, massages and more. Many of our patients are simply unaware of the treatment that they will receive when they visit one of our GTA-based clinics. To help narrow this broad term “physiotherapy,” today we look at eight treatments and services found at HealthMax. This blog will educate and empower you and hopefully clear any confusion surrounding the term: physiotherapy.

BioFlex Laser Therapy

At our clinics, we use BioFlex Laser Therapy as a treatment for soft tissue injuries and pain management. This is a non-invasive, painless procedure which uses infrared laser lights to treat inflammation and soft tissue. Built by world-class physicians, BIoFlex Laser Therapy helps patients recover from many injuries with accelerated cell regeneration, helping restore function.

Concussion Management

Three of our HealthMax clinics are designed to treat concussions which is currently the focal point for many athletes. At our clinics, we implement baseline testing which will help determine the severity of the concussion and establish a plan to treat each concussion. Did you know that you don’t necessarily need to experience head trauma in order to be diagnosed with a concussion? Every year, countless Canadians suffer concussions as a result from whiplash due to car accidents and they’re unaware of the correlation. To find out more about how we help treat concussions, please watch this video.

Spinal Decompression Therapy

Every day we treat patients who suffer from back and neck pain by implementing spinal decompression therapy. The major source of back and neck pain is the spine, which creates an inflammatory response due to normal wear and tear. To combat this response, at HealthMax we use spinal decompression therapy which is a painless 30 minute procedure designed to take pressure off of the spine. Custom Braces

You’ve probably heard about custom knee braces but did you know that they are treat several ailments associated with ACL/MCL injuries and osteoarthritis? This product is designed to take pressure off of selected joints which have been inflamed and worn out by general wear and tear. Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis in Canada and custom braces help reduce pain by taking away pressure from these inflamed joints.

Aquatic Therapy

Speaking of osteoarthritis, running may not always be the best option for those experiencing pain in their knees but at HealthMax, we use aquatic therapy to improve circulation and build strength. If you’re looking to improve your balance, work on your endurance and get a good pain-free workout then aquatic therapy may be the right treatment for you.

Massage Therapy

A major aspect of physiotherapy is massage therapy, which may treat tendonitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, general pain, muscle tendon issues and sports-related injuries. Our registered massage therapists have plenty experience treating many injuries and could improve your quality of life with proven massage techniques

Acupuncture

Primarily used to reduce pain, acupuncture stimulates the body and has been known to reduce inflammation. These tailored treatment plans will restore your health by stimulating natural steroids found in your body. These steroids will help reduce inflammation and endorphins released during this process will stop pain.
