5 Places in Ontario for Extreme Sports

Summer is just a few weeks away which means plenty fitness fundraising events, extreme sport events, hiking, jogging, music festivals and much more. This week, the theme has been outdoor events and while we’ve covered trails, beaches and picnic sites, we decided to go a bit extreme today. Extreme sports are a big part of Ontario summer as there are countless events such as Tough Mudder, MMA championships and Colour Runs that exist for the adventurous folks. Even at our physiotherapy clinics, we’re always assisting athletes who prefer to partake in rock climbing and water rafting over bird watching. Today, we highlight five places for extreme sports in Ontario.
If you’re looking for something extreme like rafting then the place to be is Grand River, located in Brantford, Ontario. The Grand River flows from Dundalk all the way to Lake Erie and has some rough patches which is perfect for those who love rafting. It bends through creeks and stretches for 272kms. Before you partake in such an extreme activity, we suggest visiting a physiotherapy clinic to exercise muscles and become adjusted to paddling. Once you’re ready, raft the Grand River for a once in a lifetime experience.
Rattlesnake Point Conservation Area Rock Climbing
For those of you who are seeking an adrenaline rush then we suggest rock climbing at Rattlesnake Point located in the Halton Hills. One of the most popular spots in Ontario for rock climbing, Rattlesnake Point has 235+ rock climbing routes which allow for instructional, recreational, and professional rock climbing. Be sure to strengthen those legs and arms before you head out for this extreme adventure.
The Parachute School of Toronto is the only centre in the city which offers skydiving for those seeking extreme thrills. At the school, you may skydive with a partner or go solo while harnessed to one of the instructors. This extreme event is not for those who suffer from high blood pressure or those who rather not defy gravity.
Just south of London, Ontario is a quiet little hideaway called Belmont. This small town is the most popular place in Ontario for those who want to go hot air ballooning. Pricing starts at $165 per person and this extreme event promises views of the Great Lakes, the Kitchener countryside and other surprises.
The Toronto Windsurfing Club offers instructors who will help you navigate the rough waters of Lake Ontario via a windsurfing board. Look back at the beautiful Toronto skyline as you hit the board and windsurf in the most popular place in Ontario. Remember that the windsurfing club is ideal for both beginners and experts who love to take advantage of rough waters.
